BAYLIS RECYCLING
Further investment in PET and mixed waste recycling / Two plants will open this year
Leading plastic reprocessor Baylis Recycling (Langley / UK; www.recyclemywaste.com) is expanding its plastic and metal can collection and sorting activities and has confirmed its investment in a PET washing plant. The PET plant will be built at the main Baylis site and will be the first in the UK to use friction washing to remove labels and glue from bottles. It is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2005 and will have an annual capacity of 15,000 t.

The collection/sorting service will open in Leeds later this year. It will be able to handle up to 100 t a week of mixed plastic and cans and will complement a similar operation in Langley. This project has 12 local authorities signed up to the scheme, all located within 40 minutes of the site. Total investment in the two projects is GBP 500,000 (EUR 734,495).
