MDI capacity increase in Shanghai slated for mid-2014
The debottlenecking of its MDI production in Shanghai, announced in late 2010 – see Plasteurope.com of 10.12.2010 – is finally about to be implemented by Bayer MaterialScience (BMS, Leverkusen; www.bayerbms.com). According to the company's recent announcement, the plant at the Chemical Industry Park in Caojing is to be expanded by mid-2014 from its current 350,000 t/y to 500,000 t/y.

The anticipated approvals from Chinese authorities for the company's expansion have apparently been finalised, an important step before moving ahead, which BMS manager Michael Koenig alluded to in 2012 during an exclusive interview with Plasteurope.com – see Plasteurope.com of 04.05.2012.
