BAYER MATERIALSCIENCE
PC/ABS blend added to medical portfolio
Bayer MaterialScience (BMS, Leverkusen / Germany; www.bayerbms.de) has added “Bayblend” M850 XF to its portfolio of PC/ABS copolymer blends for applications in medical technology. The material is claimed to offer high impact resistance, stiffness, colour stability, heat resistance and processing properties and satisfies certain biocompatibility requirements of ISO 10993 part 1. The new grades are suitable for sterilisation using ethylene oxide, gamma radiation and electron rays.
BMS said the product is recommended for opaque medical applications such as components for surgical instruments, diagnostic equipment, systems administering drugs and intravenous systems and is particularly suitable for injection moulding thin-walled components.
