BATTENFELD
Joint management for extruder manufacturers Battenfeld and Cincinnati / Two-brand strategy
The purchasing, production and logistics activities of sister companies Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik (Bad Oeynhausen / Germany; www.bex.battenfeld.com) and Cincinnati Extrusion (Vienna / Austria; www.cet-austria.com) – both in the ownership of private equity investor Triton (Frankfurt / Germany) since 2007 – are to be merged. The most important components including extruder screws and dies will continue to be manufactured at the companies’ Vienna, Bad Oeynhausen and McPherson, Kansas / USA (American Maplan) sites, while both brand names will be maintained.
Wolfgang Studener, managing director of Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik, said that the new group sees its expertise more in process engineering than in manufacturing depth. The organisation is also to be streamlined – both companies announced in April 2008 that they would merge their assembly plants in China at one site in Europe and the US. The aim is to reduce delivery times.
