BATTENFELD
American Maplan acquired / US position in tube and profile extrusion strengthened
The Battenfeld group (HQ: D-58540 Meinerzhagen) is systematically extending its circle of subsidiaries. Battenfeld acquired extruder manufacturer, American Maplan Corporation (AMC, McPherson, Kansas, USA) at the end of June. AMC previously belonged to Friedrich Theysohn GmbH (John F Kennedy Str 48, D-38228 Salzgitter), a subsidiary of Vereinigte Großalmeroder Tonerde AG (VGT). VGT's European machine tool manufacturers, Theysohn Maschinenbau GmbH, Salzgitter and Theysohn Extrusionstechnik GmbH (Girakstr 2, A-2100 Korneuburg) will remain under the ownership of VGT AG. Battenfeld and VGT have however agreed to cooperate together. AMC, whose American management will continue under the leadership of Horst Eigruber, will source its screws and cylinders from Salzgitter. As part of a sales cooperation, Theysohn machinery and equipment, such as the TSK screw mixer, will be marketed by Battenfeld.
AMC has 135 employees and an annual turnover of $ 30m. According to Battenfeld, the company is market leader for pipe and profile extrusion as well as siding in North America. AMC is to be expanded with further investments in the future and will extend the present product range. Battenfeld considers this acquisition as the capture of another key player for the extrusion of pipes and profiles on the US market.
