Launch of ChemCycling process in US / Chemically recycled products to be manufactured in Texas
German chemicals and plastics giant BASF (Ludwigshafen; www.basf.com) said it will establish its ChemCycling approach that processes plastics waste into ISSC Plus-certified recycled feedstocks in the US.

The company said raw materials derived from conventional production will be processed into chemically recycled building blocks at its joint-venture BASF TotalEnergies Petrochemicals (BTP) facility in Port Arthur, Texas, using a mass balance approach. The resulting materials would partially replace fossil resources, it added.

The building blocks can be used for many BASF products manufactured in the US, including super absorbent polymers, engineered plastics, or polyurethanes. The company noted that its so-called Ccycled brand materials produced using the recycled feedstock offer the same properties as conventional grades made from fossil resources.
