BASF (Ludwigshafen, Germany; www.basf.com) has added another production line for its Irganox 1010 antioxidant at its site on Jurong Island, Singapore. The company did not give any capacity figures.
Hermann Althoff, senior VP, BASF Performance Chemicals Asia-Pacific, said, “By expanding our production capacity, we respond to the increasing demand, and it allows us to support our customers’ growth plans. With the investment in Singapore, we underline our position as one of the leading suppliers of phenolic antioxidants.”
The extra volumes will mainly serve the fast-growing markets in the Middle East and Asia-Pacific and will provide customers more flexibility and reliability of supply, BASF added.
Irganox 1010 protects against thermo-oxidative degradation and is mainly used in polyolefins, but is also recommended for polyacetals, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyesters, PVC, ABS, and elastomers such as butyl rubber and synthetic rubbers.
In 2020, BASF announced plans to hike capacity for Irganox 1520L in Italy (see Plasteurope.com of 22.01.2020).
