BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) is moving its UK headquarters to Stockport after signing to take nearly 2,000 m² at Stockport Exchange. The transition to the new building, located in the town’s new accessible business hub, is estimated to cost GBP 145m (EUR 170m).
Richard Carter, managing director of BASF in the UK and Ireland, said, “We are looking forward to moving to this exciting new ‘connected’ location later this year. Our new office space in Stockport Exchange will feature open and collaborative workspace to enable new and more agile ways of working.” The move will deliver a better workplace experience through improved digitalisation and increased flexibility, he added.
BASF’s UK headquarters has been in Cheadle for more than 50 years. It said just over 200 people are currently based here, and more than 140 home workers are attached to the site. The company has a total of 13 locations across the UK, of which eight are manufacturing sites, and has about 850 employees.
