Flame-retardant "Ultramid" polyamide for E&E applications
BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has introduced a new flame-retardant PA for electronics and electrical engineering markets. “Ultramid" B3U31G4 is particularly suitable for the manufacture of miniature circuit breakers in household applications. The material passed the glow-wire test at 960 °C with a wall thickness of 1.0 mm.

B3U31G4 is available in white and several shades of grey. Further Ultramid grades for this use are currently being developed. Their global market launch is scheduled for the first half of 2018.
