Special-effect pigments unveiled / Blue and copper shades offer eye-catching options
BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has introduced four new "Lumina Royal" effect pigments. Characterised by their high brilliance, purity and chromaticity, the blue, aqua, indigo and magenta pigments cover the greenish- to reddish-blue spectrum whereas the copper is an opaque, bright copper-effect shade.

Jeff Knight, BASF’s senior vice president, dispersions and pigments, Asia Pacific, said: “The ‘Lumina Royal’ effect pigments offer our customers particularly brilliant solutions with creative styling options for plastics applications, helping brand owners to enhance their brands and to stand out from their competitors.”

The pigments can be used, for example, to produce eye-catching products for sport and leisure such as skate- or snowboards and children’s toys, said BASF. Other applications include packaging for cosmetic products and casings for electronic devices and household appliances.

BASF unveiled all five pigments at the Chinaplas (www.chinaplasonline.com) trade fair, which was held from 20-23 May 2015 in Guangzhou / China. For more details on the company's Asian activities, see also Plasteurope.com of 27.05.2015.
