With its new “Basotect B”, a white melamine resin foam developed specifically for use in visible applications indoors, BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has expanded its range of the foam and opened new design options. The new product, which is attracting strong interest from architects and designers, “meets the highest demands” when used as a sound absorber for optimising room acoustics, the group said.
In addition to established properties such as excellent sound absorption, flame retardancy, high inherent rigidity and ease of processing, BASF said Basotect B has a high light reflectance value that helps lower lighting demand, thus saving energy.
