Plans to build new antioxidant blending facility in Bahrain
In order to better serve its growing customer base in the Middle East, German chemicals manufacturer BASF (Ludwigshafen; www.basf.com) plans to build a new production facility for customer specific antioxidant blends (CSB) in Bahrain.
Earlier this year the company had cancelled plans by Ciba to enter into a joint venture with Astra Polymer Compounding (Al-Khobar / Saudi Arabia; www.astra-polymers.com) to produce CSB in the Middle East – see Plasteurope.com of 05.07.2010. BASF did, however, hold up the tolling agreement with Astra Polymers the former Ciba had entered into with the Saudi group. The Ludwigshafen-based group had acquired the former Swiss speciality chemicals manufacturer last year (see Plasteurope.com of 20.04.2009).
