New “Ultradur” PBT product has minimal warpage
BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has added a low-warpage product to its “Ultradur” S4090 family of PBT materials. The new product, Ultradur S4090 GM11, is reinforced with glass fibres and minerals, offering low warpage levels not yet available on the market, BASF claims.

With a shrinkage ratio in lengthwise and crosswise directions of 0.95/1.0, compared with 0.70/0.80 for the closely related product Ultradur S4090 GM13, shrinkage of the new product in both spatial directions is almost the same, the company says. Ultrador S4090 GM11 also has good mould-removal behaviour and surface quality, making it suitable for large-surface parts in automotive interiors, BASF adds.
