"Ultrason" impact modifier available in powder form / Easier incorporation into resins
BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) will showcase its high-temperature resistant polyether sulfone "Ultrason E 2020 P SR" for the first time in micronised form at the "JEC Composites Show", held in Paris from 24 to 26 March 2009. It was previously available only as flakes. The new impact modifier bears the suffix "micro" and is said to be easier to incorporate into high-temperature resistant epoxy resins. The normal procedure of dissolving the modifier in a solvent before incorporating it in the resin and then removing the solvent is therefore considerably simplified.
