BASF
World's lightest half-litre PS bottle developed for dairy products
BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has used a conventional stretch blow-moulding machine to create what it claims to be the world’s lightest half-litre PS bottle, weighing 7.5 grams.

Since PS is less dense than PET, it can be used to produce bottles that weigh less but have the same wall thickness, BASF explained.

The group said it recommends the plastic, named "PS BX 3580", specifically for containers used for milk products.
