BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) will present its thermoplastic specialties, polyurethanes and pigments together for the first time at the "Fakuma" trade fair, held from 17 to 21 October 2006 at Friedrichshafen / Germany (hall B4, stand 405). Visitors will be able to discuss new products and special services for industrial and automotive designers.
The functional and aesthetic requirements of engineered products will be a focus as BASF makes its products and experience accessible to designers as well as engineers. An insight will be provided into "Ultradur High Speed" easy-flowing PBT which can be dyed much more easily than conventional PBT using only around 50% of the colour batch normally required and "Ultraform" (POM), for which several masterbatches are available in the latest automotive interior shades.
In high transparency packaging, BASF has introduced two new products in its styrenic polymers line. "Luran Crystal Clear" is aimed at cosmetics packaging and is claimed to eliminate the yellow tinge often encountered with SAN, while "Styrolux 3G46" SBS is designed for blister packaging used in the presentation of small electronic devices.
At the stand, subsidiary Elastogran will describe developments in "Elastollan" PUR, which can be used in many applications including tube production, films, vehicle interior parts and the electronics and agriculture sectors. BASF will also demonstrate its experience in dyeing engineering plastics through pigments and masterbatches in the form of granules, powder mixtures and liquid colorants.
