Founded in 1965, UK injection moulding firm Barkley Plastics (Birmingham; www.barkley.co.uk) is this year celebrating 60 years in business. Having traditionally focused on supplying components to the automotive sector, the group marked its sixth decade by signing a deal to produce controller parts and ambient lighting for a high-end shower manufacturer, and parts for electric vehicle charger manufacturer FastAmps (Shrewsbury, UK; www.fastamps.com).

In a statement, the firm – which created 20,000 plastic baubles for the world’s largest chandelier, first used at the Winter Olympics in Sochi – said the latest contract wins, along with its “PlasFloor” flooring tile range and agreements to supply the likes of Nissan, Toyota and JLR with interior trim and specialist lighting parts, had helped it recover from what it described as a “difficult two years”.

Run by Mark Harwood (chairman) and his son Matt Harwood (managing director), Barkley Plastics said it was on track to achieve revenues in 2025 of GBP 4 mn (EUR 4.8 mn) and grow this figure next year.

Commenting on the company’s corporate milestone, Matt Harwood said, “To last six decades in manufacturing is a great achievement. What has stood out throughout has been the passion from our staff to deliver the very best service to customers.”
