BALDA
Revenues in continued operations rise / EBIT just positive / Pretax income probably negative
Mobile phone supplier Balda (Bad Oeynhausen / Germany; www.balda.de), which has taken a heavy battering in recent months, posted revenues in continued operations in 2008 of EUR 238m (2007: EUR 215.3m). According to preliminary results, and taking into account special effects, impairment write-offs and value adjustments resulting from the divestment of affiliates and subsidiaries, EBIT amounted to EUR 1.4m (EUR 13.5m). For the year as a whole, Balda expects negative earnings before taxes (EBT). In the first nine months of 2008, EBT was minus EUR 15.1m, but in Q4 a positive result for touch screen producer TPK Holding (Xiamen, Fujian / China), in which Balda still holds a 38% stake, could bring an improvement. Final figures will be published on 25 March.
