Earnings above, sales below budget in 2005
Precision component injection moulding specialist Balda (Bad Oeynhausen / Germany; www.balda.de) has reported record pretax earnings of EUR 49m for 2005, some 2% ahead of 2004 and 4.3% ahead of its own forecast. Sales rose 5% to EUR 397m, but were slightly below the budgeted EUR 420-430m. The company blames the loss of revenue from bought-in electronic components for two cancelled mobile phone projects, but said new, qualitatively better orders "more than compensated." For 2006, Balda expects turnover of EUR 450-460m, including 65% in foreign markets (43% in 2005).
