US compounder and distributor A. Schulman (Akron, Ohio; www.aschulman.com) has added a new halogen-free PE flame retardant grade to its portfolio. The company said “Icorene” 9106 is compliant with the flame retardant standard UL 94 V-0, and provides the same characteristics, properties and UL 94 V-0 FR performance as conventional halogenated grades.
The material is available in off white, and other colours are being evaluated for certification. “The new grade provides moulders with more options to meet safer and more sustainable requirements in a variety of markets,” said product line manager Les Druyf.
