A. Schulman (Akron, Ohio / USA; www.aschulman.com) has launched a new un-reinforced flame retardant PA for use in electrical connectors. The plastic compounds supplier says the new “Schulamid” 66 MV 5 FR has high comparative tracking index (CTI) ratings in performance level class PLC0 (600 V), which are a measure of their ability to provide electrical insulation.
It is halogen-free, and has passed tests for electrical and electronic applications such as RTI (Relative Temperature Index), which measures the deterioration of materials in electrical devices, and the flame resistance test UL 94 V-0. A. Schulman says the material also shows outstanding processability, and is available in a range of colours.
