Second masterbatch plant in China / Growth in Asia-Pacific accelerating
US compounder and distributor A. Schulman (Akron, Ohio; www.aschulman.com) has opened a colour masterbatch plant in China, its second wholly-owned facility in the country. The plant, located in the Changshu High Tech Industrial Park, Jiangsu province, will produce colour masterbatches for the packaging, automotive, agricultural, sports, leisure and household markets in China and other growing markets in the Asia-Pacific region. Capacity details and investment costs were not disclosed.

Derek Bristow, A. Schulman’s senior vice president and general manager Asia-Pacific, said the facility would enable the company to support the accelerating growth of its Asia-Pacific customers with specialised advanced materials designed to meet their stringent specification requirements.
