Acquisition of Australian polymer producer Compco
US plastics compounder and distributor A. Schulman (Akron, Ohio; www.aschulman.com) is continuing its acquisitive trail through the purchase of Australian plastics producer Compco (Melbourne, Victoria; www.compco.com.au) for USD 6.7m. Compco produces a range of plastic compounds and products including masterbatches and custom performance colours and recorded revenues of almost AUD 15m (EUR 11m) in the year ended 30 June 2014. The company’s key markets include packaging, wire and cable as well as pipe.
Joseph Gingo, chairman, president and CEO of A. Schulman, said: “This is our tenth acquisition in the last four years and, although it is relatively small compared with our entire organisation, the benefits of Compco’s industry-leading technology will better position our business in the region and can be leveraged throughout our global footprint.”
