A. SCHULMAN
Antibacterial and antimicrobial masterbatches launched
A. Schulman (Akron, Ohio / USA; www.aschulman.com) has added two products to its “Polybatch” range of specialty antibacterial and antimicrobial masterbatches. “Polybatch” ABACT antibacterial masterbatches are designed to inhibit the growth of microorganisms that cause odours, mildew, discoloration or the deterioration of plastics. “Polybatch” AMIC antimicrobial masterbatches are designed to protect against bacteria and fungus.
The antibacterials and antimicrobials use silver ion technologies, A. Schulman said. Some of the company’s standard grades of antibacterial products have been found to reduce bacteria by more than 99.99%, while antimicrobials have been found to have a bacteria and fungus survival rate of 0.1-0.8% in PE film, it added.
