Swiss automobile insulation supplier Autoneum (Winterthur; www.autoneum.com) has inaugurated a production plant in San Luis Potosí / Mexico, its third in the country. From early 2017, carpet systems, inner dashes and floor insulators will be produced at the facility, located around 400 km northwest of Mexico City. The 27,000 m² plant will supply US and German OEMs producing locally for the North American market.
The company said that during the construction of the facility it became clear that demand for the plant’s products would necessitate an early expansion. Because of this, simultaneously with the opening of the plant, the foundation stone was laid for a second facility at the site. Underbody systems, carpets and heatshields for German, US and Japanese automotive OEMs will be produced on an additional 19,000 m² from 2018.
