Austria’s Austrotherm (Waldegg; www.austrotherm.at) said it has acquired Czech EPS and XPS insulation manufacturer DCD Ideal (Dynin; www.dcd-ideal.cz). Financial details were not disclosed. Earlier this year, the Austrian firm started up its third production plant in Poland for EPS insulation materials (see Plasteurope.com of 26.04.2021).
“With the purchase of DCD, we are closing the last blank spot in our core markets of Central and Eastern Europe,” said Austrotherm MD Klaus Haberfellner.
The acquisition is said to give the company a pair of plants in the Czech Republic, which are based in Slavětín and Dynin. Part of Schmid Industrieholding, Austrotherm reported sales of EUR 343m last year and now has 25 production sites spread across Austria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Turkey. The workforce was reported at 1,100 employees.
