German blow moulding specialist acquires majority stake in Dutch EuroMouldings
Plastic canisters manufacturer AST Kunststoffverarbeitung (Erndtebrück / Germany; www.ast-kunststoffkanister.de) has acquired a 51% share in EuroMouldings (Nijverdal / The Netherlands; www.euro-mouldings.nl), which specialises in plastic bottles and containers. The remaining 49% remain with investment company Wadinko (Zwolle / The Netherlands; www.wadinko.nl). With the acquisition, AST is adding bottles to its canisters portfolio. The company's site in Nijverdal is set for continuous development in the coming years.
In addition to two factories in Erndtebrück, AST set up a production site in Wrexham / UK in 2012 and in Hoogstraten / Belgium in 2014. The family-owned company also invested in expansions in the UK and Germany in 2016 – see Plasteurope.com of 09.05.2016 – and took over German plastic canisters producer AMO-Plast.
AST specialises in producing plastic canisters and drums for dangerous goods, for volumes from 250 ml to 220 l. EuroMouldings manufactures canisters and bottles by extrusion blow moulding on 38 machines. Founded in 1995, the company employs 110 people. In 1999, Wadinko acquired a minority stake in EuroMouldings, and in 2015, the investment company took over the remaining shares.
