As the successor to Stefan Sommer (Vynova, see Plasteurope.com of 09.07.2021), Karl-Martin Schellerer, managing director at PVC producer Westlake Vinnolit has been selected as new chairman of the two European PVC industry associations, VinylPlus (Brussels; www.vinylplus.eu) and the European Council of Vinyl Manufacturers (ECVM, Brussels; https://pvc.org).

Schellerer has been on the boards of both associations since 2018.

VinylPlus, the European PVC industry’s voluntary sustainability initiative, works to improve recycling of vinyl products such as window frames, pipes, flooring, and cables. In 2021, 810,775 t of PVC waste was recycled and used in new products, which represents around 26.9% of the total PVC waste generated in 2021 in the EU27, Norway, Switzerland and the UK (see Plasteurope.com of 02.06.2022).
