Following the announcement that its current CEO Willem De Vos plans to return to working in the industry, the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE, Bethel, Connecticut; www.4spe.org) is on the lookout for a new chief executive. The search is expected to commence in January 2017, and the association hopes to have found a suitable candidate by summer next year.
De Vos first joined SPE in 2012 (see Plasteurope.com of 24.01.2012). Under his leadership, the association has been restructured and has created “additional member benefits, launched new industry services and events, and established several relevant partnerships,” said SPE president Scott Owens. Most recently, the association joined hands with the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI, Washington DC; www.plasticsindustry.org) – now renamed PLASTICS – in launching a partnered membership programme for OEMs and brand owners (see Plasteurope.com of 29.11.2016).
Following his departure, De Vos said he wishes to remain with SPE in a volunteer leadership role.
