New state-of-the-art PTA plant on stream in Portugal/ Almost all output earmarked for export
Artlant PTA (Sines / Portugal; www.artlantpta.com), the subsidiary of La Seda de Barcelona (Barcelona / Spain; www.laseda.es) formerly known as Artenius Sines, has started up its new 700,000 t/y PTA plant at Sines / Portugal. With the new EUR 400m facility the company said it will become the largest European producer of the key feedstock for PET packaging resins and polyester fibre with the most modern production facilities.

Sales from the new state-of-the-art unit that will employ 400 people directly or indirectly are projected to exceed EUR 600m annually, based on current international market prices. About 95% of production is earmarked for export. While the key market is Europe, other targeted sales regions also include Africa, the CIS and Baltic states, the Middle East, India and Brazil.
