Manufacturer of med-tech products takes over Italian competitor Phoenix

US medical technology group Arterex (Scottsdale, Arizona; www.arterexmedical.com) has announced the expansion of its footprint in Italy. Established in 2022 through the merger of four plastics processing and toolmaking companies, Arterex has acquired the Italian medical device manufacturer Phoenix (Modena; www.phoenixbiomed.it) for an undisclosed amount.

Established in 2022 through the merger of four plastics processing and toolmaking companies, Arterex has acquired the Italian medical device manufacturer Phoenix (Modena; www.phoenixbiomed.it) for an undisclosed amount.

This acquisition enhances Arterex’s capacity for producing medical technology components in Europe, according to CEO Jeffery Goble. Phoenix operates a 3,500 m² facility near Modena, which includes four ISO 8-class clean rooms. The company is also certified to ISO 13485:2016 standards.

As a contract manufacturer, Arterex operates nine production facilities for medical technology parts in the US, Mexico, Italy, and Egypt, and currently employs around 1,250 people. The group now includes Kabo (Traversetolo, Italy; www.kabo.it), Formula Plastics (Tecate, California, USA; www.formulaplastics.com), Luc & Bel (Capri, Italy; www.luc-bel.com), ModenPlast (Ubersetto di Fiorano Modenese, Italy; www.modenplast.com), NextPhase (Mansfield, Massachusetts, USA; www.nextphasemed.com), and since last year, MicroMold (Riverside, California, USA). Arterex is owned by Investindustrial (London; www.investindustrial.com), an Italian-British private equity firm.
