Acquisition of Austrian pre-insulated pipe specialist Austroflex

Insulating materials supplier Armacell (Luxembourg; www.armacell.com) said it has purchased Austroflex (Gödersdorf / Austria; www.austroflex.com), a manufacturer of pre-insulated pipe systems, thermal solar pipes, and technical insulating materials. Financial details were not disclosed.
With the acquisition, Armacell is expanding its geographical presence and business activities in Europe, according to president and CEO Patrick Mathieu, and the move is said to also strengthen the company’s product portfolio.
Austroflex, founded in 1985, primarily serves customers in Austria and Germany in the areas of district heating and cooling networks, sanitary and drinking water systems, solar energy applications, and technical systems. The portfolio includes flexible pipes with HDPE jacket pipes, polyurethane insulation, polyethylene foam (XPE), mineral wool, and rubber products. At its headquarters site, the company has a production area of 55,000 m² and employs more than 80.
Armacell’s business covers the divisions of advanced insulation and engineered foams, 27 production sites, 3,200 employees, and representation in 19 countries. Last year, the company reported sales of EUR 677 mn and an EBITDA of EUR 117 mn.
