Leading synthetic rubber manufacturer Arlanxeo (Maastricht / The Netherlands; www.arlanxeo.com) has announced it will close its plant in Orange, Texas / USA in the second quarter of 2020.
The company said the closure is part of a realignment of its “Keltan” EPDM elastomers network with the aim of improving competitiveness and harmonising technology platforms across the Keltan portfolio. Arlanxeo added that it will continue to produce butadiene rubber and hydrogenated nitrile butadiene rubber at the Orange site.
The Dutch company is now fully owned by Saudi Aramco (Dhahran / Saudi Arabia; www.saudiaramco.com) after German speciality chemicals company Lanxess (Cologne; www.lanxess.com) sold its 50% share in the joint venture last December – see Plasteurope.com of 10.01.2019.
