Two hydrogenated acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (HNBR) grades for low temperature applications will be introduced at “K 2016” (www.k-online.de), held in Düsseldorf / germany from 19-26 October, by synthetic rubber producer Arlanxeo (Maastricht / The Netherlands; www.arlanxeo.com), the 50:50 joint venture between Lanxess (Cologne / Germany; www.lanxess.com) and Saudi Aramco (Dhahran / Saudi Arabia; www.saudiaramco.com) established in April this year (see Plasteurope.com of 15.04.2016).
“Therban” LT 1707, a fully saturated grade, and LT 1757, a partially saturated grade, both offer the ability to fulfil low temperature requirements to -40 °C, while maintaining the performance of this elastomeric rubber class.
Arlanxeo said it is working on the development of a generation of “Therban” elastomers to meet the market need for a further improved balance between low temperature properties and oil resistance. The company expects that these products will extend the boundaries for low temperature applications to well below -40 °C, while maintaining high oil resistance.
