Purchase of 3D printer systems maker / German RepRap to remain independent
German plastics machinery manufacturer Arburg (Loßburg; www.arburg.com) confirmed the takeover of industrial 3D printer manufacturer German RepRap (Feldkirchen / Germany; www.germanreprap.com) in a purchase contract notarised 12 February 2020.

Founded near Munich in 2010, German RepRap develops and produces industrial 3D systems based on fused filament fabrication (FFF) technology. The company developed its new “x500pro” 3D printer machine, which processes engineering plastics such as polycarbonate using its FFF technology. In 2016, the company developed a “Liquid Additive Manufacturing” (LAM) technology which allows for materials such as liquid silicone rubber (LSR) to be processed.
Arburg entered the additive manufacturing market in 2013 with its “Freeformer” machine, designed as an open system for the processing of standard, commercially available plastic resin using the company’s droplet discharge process.
German RepRap will continue to operate as a separate company at its location in Feldkirchen. The change in ownership will not prompt any operational changes for the German 3D printing specialist’s 23 employees, said Arburg. Florian Bautz, German RepRap’s founder and managing director, will continue to run the business in the same way.
