German plastics machinery producer Arburg (Loßburg; www.arburg.com) has established its own subsidiary in Taiwan, where it had to date been represented by sales and service partner C&F International Corporation. Based in Taichung – the country’s third largest city and home to many Arburg customers – the subsidiary will be headed by Michael Huang and will include a number of sales and service staff from its former partner C&F.
Arburg said the subsidiary, which began operations on 1 April, will help it expand its global network as well as its activities in Asia. “Due to Taiwan’s great importance as an innovative market with many high-end companies, we are taking prompt action to secure and strategically expand our local presence there,” said Arburg overseas sales director Andrea Carta. The local office will also help the group’s Taiwanese customers in their internationalisation process.
The German company hopes the subsidiary, which covers an area of 550 m² and whose showroom offers space for three "Allrounders", will help it grow in more standard fields, too, including in thermoplastic processing. With that in mind, the company intends to broaden its service offering in the country to include application technology consulting. To that end, the subsidiary also includes training rooms, in addition to what Arburg called an “extensive spare parts store.”
Rather than terminate all ties with former partner C&F, Arburg intends to continue using the group’s services, including for the sale of peripheral processing equipment and the handling of some key injection moulding accounts. However, its new Taichung operation will immediately take over all after-sales services.
