Italian PA specialist makes overtures to German-speaking markets / Recyclate for Opel
With its participation in this year´s “Fakuma” exhbition in Friedrichshafen, Germany, Italian polyamide specialist Aquafil Special Polimers Srl (Via Milano, 8, I-20020 Ceriano Laghetto, MI) made overtures to plastics markets in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland. The company founded in 1987 within the Bonazzi group specialises in polyamide compounds (6, 6.6 and 12). In 1998, it produced 13,200 t of the compounds and had sales of more than EUR 24m.
The compounds made of virgin material are sold under the trademark “Specialmid”. Aquafil also reports increasing demand for its PA recyclate produced mainly from in-house production scraps and marketed under the name “Econyl”. German carmaker Opel is using a glass fibre-reinforced Econyl (PA 6.6) to produce the valve tappet cover of its new-generation three- and four-cylinder gasoline engines. Resinex DeutschlandGmbH (Sandwiesenweg 27, D-64664 Alsbach-Hähnlein) is handling distribution and application-related service.
