US polyester and vinyl ester resins producer AOC (European headquarters: Schaffhausen / Switzerland; www.aocresins.com) said it has completed the acquisition of a factory for unsaturated polyester resins in Usti nad Labem / Czech Republic (see Plasteurope.com of 26.10.2020). The plant on the Elbe River, located 70 km southeast of Dresden, had previously been operated as a joint venture between the Czech companies Kaprain (Prague; www.kaprain.cz) and Spolchemie (Usti nad Labem; www.spolchemie.cz).
AOC cited the considerable improvement of its strategic market position in Central and Eastern Europe and Germany as the main reasons for this acquisition. In addition, the plant is said to offer good conditions for the production of polyester resins from recycled PET.
