Antalis (Paris; www.antalis.com) said it has signed a binding agreement to acquire Spanish technical packaging solution specialist Plaesa (Toledo; www.plaesa.es) in order to expand its range of tailor-made packaging solutions on the Iberian Peninsula.
Founded in 1983, family-owned Plaesa is a highly specialised packaging distributor and processor, offering custom-made technical foams, rigid plastics (polyethylene, polypropylene, and EPS), wood, cork, cellulose pulp, cardboard, canvas, and fabrics.
With annual turnover reported at EUR 6 mn, the company employs 38 people at four locations in Madrid and the province of Toledo, and serves a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, medical, defense, and retail.
The Plaesa deal, which is subject to customary closing conditions, comes after Antalis’s acquisitions of two Spanish packaging specialists — Cohal and Gosuma — as well as Portuguese industrial packaging distributor 100metros.
Plaesa itself has made significant investments in new equipment (special plotters for cutting canvas, PVC and sealing, cardboard-cutting machines, printing machines, and foam converters) that were installed at its newest manufacturing plant, built in 2022.
Antalis is part of Japan-based KPP Group Holdings (Tokyo; www.kpp-gr.com), a global leader in papers, packaging and visual communication distribution.
