Masterbatch producer Ampacet (Tarrytown, New York / USA; www.ampacet.com) has introduced two halogen-free flame-retardant masterbatches said to provide excellent optics and film clarity. They are suitable for a broad range of flexible applications, including carpet backing, industrial packaging materials, ceiling insulation and under-roof liners for homes, railway stations and stadiums.
“Halofree 709” is rated excellent in flammability testing classifications, meeting the B2 (DIN4102) standard for Germany and the VTMO (UL94) standard for the US, as well as Euroclass close equivalents. “Halofree 229” is also said to achieve excellent flammability testing classifications, including the M1 (NFP 92-503) standard for France. Both halogen-free flame-retardant masterbatches reportedly provide outstanding flame retardancy in polyethylene film at low addition rates and can be coloured with masterbatches from Ampacet’s colour portfolio.
