Ampacet (Tarrytown, New York / USA; www.ampacet.com) has launched a new blue masterbatch, “Blue Edge 226”, designed for post-consumer recycled polyethylene products. In addition to the increasing film brightness due to a lighter bluish hue, the masterbatch also reduces the risk of gel formation during processing of rPE.
On the German market, there is demand for such blue masterbatches for plant pots produced from post-consumer waste. In January 2019, plastics processor Pöppelmann (Lohne / Germany; www.poeppelmann.com) released, with what was seen as much success, its “Blue” series of plant pots made with Duales System Holding’s (DSD, Cologne / Germany; www.gruener-punkt.de) “Systalen” recycled plastic. Systalen is recyclate made from collected household packaging waste in Germany – see Plasteurope.com of 21.08.2015.
