Launch of two masterbatches / "Biorange" provides full composting ability / "Antiscratch" additive protects PE and PP products
Major masterbatch producer Ampacet (Tarrytown, New York / USA; www.ampacet.com) has launched two new plastics additives. The "Biorange" masterbatches are compatible with biodegradable polymers and comply with the European standard EN 13432 for compostable packaging, meaning that the plastic end product can be mixed with organic wastes and fully composted in an industrial facility.
The second additive – "AntiScratch" 1000617-E – has been designed to significantly improve the scratch resistance of PE and PP injected articles and blow-moulded bottles during manufacturing, transport and handling. Ampacet said this masterbatch provides long-term protection that lasts during the life cycle of the product. AntiScratch 1000617-E is said to also perform well on darker colours where scratches are most visible. The additive has no impact on a product’s colour, odour or gloss, according to the company.
