AMOCO CHEMICALS
New "Mindel" type for electrotechnical and electronic applications
Amoco Performance Products – European HQ: Amoco Chemicals SA (15 rue Rothschild, CH-1211 Geneva 21) – has announced a new "Mindel" type specifically for a wide range of applications in electro-technical and electronic construction parts. This passes flammability tests without the inclusion of polybrominated diphenyloxide. "Mindel" B-430 is a glass-reinforced thermo-plastic, blended from amorphous polysulphone and a partly crystalline polymer. The material is characterised by very good dimensional stability, high impact resistance, high chemical resistance and high rigidity. The UL 94 V-O classification applies for wall thicknesses of 1.6 mm. According to Amoco, recommended applications include components such as relays, switches, starter motors and casings for control equipment. "Mindel" B-430 is also suitable for couplings which are not exposed to the high processing temperatures necessary for SMT (surface mounting technology).
