Australian packaging company Amcor (Hawthorn; www.amcor.com) has announced its acquisition of Plasticos Team from Colombian food producer Team Foods Colombia (Bogotá; www.team.co/en). This expands Amcor's speciality container business in Latin America.
Plasticos Team has one facility in Guachené / Colombia and annual sales of approximately USD 13m, the majority of which comes from manufacturing and selling preforms, thin wall containers and closures to Team Foods, which will continue under an exclusive long-term supply agreement. The acquisition includes the addition of new capabilities, such as thin wall injection moulding and in-mould labelling. Currently, Amcor has three rigid plastics packaging plants in Colombia, including one that is close to Guachené. Amcor’s managing director and CEO, Ron Delia, said the company has substantial opportunities to grow its speciality container business across the Americas.
