AMCOR
Purchase of South Africa's Nampak Flexibles
Australian packaging giant Amcor (Abbotsford; www.amcor.com) is paying USD 22m to acquire what it says is South Africa’s leading flexible packaging producer, Nampak Flexibles – part of packaging giant Nampak (Sandton / South Africa; www.nampak.co.za). The purchase will provide “a platform for growth in the African region,” Amcor CEO Ken MacKenzie – who will retire at year’s end (see Plasteurope.com of 10.02.2015) – said.
Nampak Flexibles operates three plants in South Africa, located in KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and Port Elizabeth. The company specialises in extrusion, lamination and conversion and last posted sales of about USD 94m.
