Acquisition of Indian flexible packaging manufacturer Uniglobe / Expanding its foothold on the subcontinent
A little more than a week after announcing the acquisition of flexible packaging producer Aperio Group (Nunawading / Australia; www.aperiogroup.com.au) – see Plasteurope.com of 12.03.2012 – Amcor (Abbotsford / Australia; www.amcor.com) has made yet another huge investment. On 21 March, the global packaging giant announced that it had bought Indian flexible packaging producer Uniglobe (Mumbai) for AUD 19.8m (EUR 15.6m). The deal further expands Amcor’s foothold in India, where it already has three production facilities in Haridwar, Chakan and Pune as well as sales offices in Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai and Pune.
With annual sales of about EUR 15.8m, Uniglobe caters to multi-national customers in the food, personal care and healthcare markets. The Indian company operates two plants in Daman, about 150 km north of Mumbai. As part of the deal, Uniglobe’s current management will remain in place.
