ALTUGLAS
Acrylic resins introduced for medical devices applications
Acrylic plastics specialist Altuglas International (Colombes / France; www.altuglas.com), a subsidiary of Arkema (Colombes; www.arkema.com), has extended its range of medical grade acrylic resins with the introduction of “Altuglas” CR30 and CR50 impact modified grades. The resins offer high alcohols and lipids resistance, reducing environmental stress cracking due to attack by aggressive drugs and disinfectants in medical applications.
The resins have been developed for easy injection moulding of complex multi-cavity parts. They offer high optical transparency and bonding characteristics, scratch resistance and sterilisation recovery, Altuglas said.
