Danish distribution group acquires Swedish Interplast / First step in Nordic plastics growth strategy
Polymer and additives company Interplast AB (Vastervik / Sweden; www.interplast.se) has been acquired by Denmark’s distributor Alsiano AS (Birkerod / Denmark; www.alsiano.com). The acquisition is the first step in Alsiano’s strategy to grow its presence in the plastic and rubber sectors, both organically and through acquisitions. Financial details of the deal, which was completed on 15 March 2013, were not disclosed.
Alsiano, which primarily distributes raw materials for the food, healthcare and other industries, has been building up its Nordic distribution business within plastics, plastic additives and rubber since June 2012. Hans Henrik Wengel, Alsiano’s Nordic sales manager, said the purchase of Interplast will give Alsiano a presence in Sweden and Finland, adding to its current coverage in Denmark and Norway. The company will offer a mix of technical plastics and compounds, as well as additives for the compounding industry.
