The company said it has formed a joint venture with the previous owners-founders Leandro Tanaka, Adriano Tanaka, and Jadir Voltoline, who have now become the minority shareholders. The three will be involved in managing the joint venture.
Financial details were not disclosed. The anti-trust authorities have yet to approve the transaction.

“Demand for sustainable packaging solutions made from recycled plastics is growing on all continents. Our customers want to reduce their CO₂ consumption, and we support them in doing so. By investing in Clean Bottle, we are securing the long-term supply of our plants in Brazil with our own high-quality post-consumer recycled material (PCR),” according to Dietmar Marin, managing director of Alpla Recycling.
The Brazilian deal comes after Alpla revealed in mid-January its acquisition of all shares in JV partner Alpla Taba (Madinat al-Aschir min Ramadan, Egypt).
Clean Bottle has a recycling plant in São José dos Pinhais in the state of Paraná, with an annual output capacity of 15,000 t of HDPE recycled material.
Alpla said the plant has a modern infrastructure, self-sufficient rainwater treatment, and the highest quality standards. Around 120 people are employed on the 15,000 m² site. The cooperation is also bolstered by Clean Bottle’s collection centre Clean Plastic Group in adjacent state capital Curitiba, which will be further expanded in the future.
The investment also enables Alpla to meet its own global recycling goals. Alpla already uses around 32% PCR material in the production of HDPE packaging in Brazil – and, according to Alpla, the trend is rising.
“Brazil is the beginning of our recycling activities in South America,” said Christoph Schneider, regional managing director South America. “Clean Bottle is an established manufacturer and, as a long-standing supplier, shares our quality standards.”
