Acquisition of Indian PET preform facility

Austrian packaging group Alpla (Hard; www.alpla.com) says it has taken over a plant for rigid plastics in India from the packaging specialist Amcor (Melbourne / Australia; www.amcor.com) with effect from September 28, 2020. The Alandi plant, near Pune, manufactures preforms PET bottles for the beverage industry. Customers include Coca-Cola and the Indian dairy company Amul, Alpla said. No terms of the deal were released.
The company plans to retain all 50 employees. Vagish Dixit, MD of Alpla India, said: “The newly acquired facility near Pune will primarily help us to better serve the market in the Western Region of India and further expand existing partnerships with customers such as Coca-Cola.” The site is the Alpla’s ninth location in India and the second in the west of the country.
